God’s Promises ~ Genesis 12:1-7

31 Dec

Sarah Has a Son
The Lord was good to Sarah and kept His promise.  Although Abraham was very old, Sarah had a so exactly at the time God had said.  Abraham named his son Isaac, and when the boy was eight days old, Abraham circumcised him, just as the Lord had commanded.
Abraham was a hundred years old when Isaac was born, and Sarah said, “God has made me laugh.  Now everyone will laugh with me.  Who would have dared to tell Abraham that someday I would have a child?  But in his old age, I have given him a son.”

I believe that babies are born very trusting.  They have to believe that their parents will feed them, care for them, and keep them safe.  As children get older, the trust and believe their parents when they first learn to ride a bike, or roller skate or even to drive a car.  Unfortunately, I also believe that as we get older, we all experience broken promises and lies and our trust dwindles.  Sometimes, a person goes through so much, be it violence, a broken marriage, the loss of a child, or cancer, that not only do they stop trusting people all together, they stop trusting God too.
Have you ever heard that saying, “God answers all prayers.  It just depends whether is says yes, no or wait”?  Sometimes, when we look back on things, the prayers that God answered the opposite of what we wanted, are the ones that we are most grateful for.  We can see that if we had gotten the answer we wanted, things would be so much worse then they are now.
God will ALWAYS do what is best for us.  Sometimes He makes us wait, but we wait for a reason.  While we keep praying and keep waiting, we learn patience and strength.  We also need to be learning trust.  Trust in God.
When you feel that there is not a soul on earth that you can trust, when it seems like everyone is out to hurt you, even then you can trust God.  He wants to help you and make you happy.  He will always be there for you with a listening ear, He will never lie to you, He will never hit you or cheat on you, He won’t rob you or take advantage of you, and He will never eat the last piece of chocolate cake!
In 2013, my prayer for all my friends, family, blog readers, and most of all myself, is for us to learn to trust God. Pray about everything, talk to God and trust Him.  He will help you.

Blessings in the New Year to all of you!

“In those times that you see only one set of footprints, it was there that I was carrying you” Keep trusting that God knows what you need, even if it’s not what you want.
