Fasting…part 2

Last week I posted about trying to “fast” from Twitter and Facebook for a day over the weekend.  Well, I did it…and I actually liked it. It was so peaceful and not hectic. Sooo…

I started unfollowing people on twitter, cut my numbers about in half.  I figure that I want to be able to keep up with people and if I’m getting 500+ updates per day, there’s no way that I can read them all.  Now I have some news stations and some close friends and a few Newfies I don’t know in person.  It’s so much easier.

As for facebook, meh, I’m just not going to keep it open all the time.  It’s amazing what a time suck it can be.  In the last 3 days I have cleaned the entire main floor of my house. It’s sparkling…well, except for my coffee table. But yeah, not sitting on facebook allowed me to do all that. AND I’ve had time for reading, knitting and snuggling with the kids and dog.  It’s wonderful!

Well, that’s how it’s going now…I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas with their family and friends!

  1. Way to go Catt! I was reading the bible everyday but I haven’t been faithful lately so this is a good reminder to jump back on the bandwagon.

  2. I’m so glad it went well for you and you enjoyed it. I think in today’s world, everyone finds it very difficult to “unplug.”

I find myself on the Internet too much out of boredom. But that is so silly! As if there is nothing in the house needing to be done! I pray for diligence and eagerness in my housework and family work, and I will pray the same for you tonight.

  3. I just discovered your blog through 1000 gifts twitter. I am also from newfoundland living in ontario. I enjoy your words of fasting….

Just thought i would drop a note from one newfie to another

  4. I like that idea of “fasting” from facebook or other time sucks. I am sitting here needing a kick in the pants to DO something. Making time-wasters off limits will motivate me to look around and tackle a project, however small.
